The Putnam County Sheriff's Office just released details on the chain of events that began Monday, Sept. 30, at approximately 3:45 p.m. when it received a description of a vehicle and suspect that had just been involved in the Litchfield County incident in the town of New Milford.
The robbery occurred when the suspect followed a victim home after the person retrieved a FedEx package delivery of an Apple watch at their parent's residence, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect attempted to steal the package at knifepoint, making several attempts to stab the victim, authorities said.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., members of the Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) spotted the vehicle heading westbound in Putnam County on I-84 in the town of Patterson.
They initiated a traffic stop with assistance from road patrol deputies and the New York State Police.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 28-year-old Dalin Gonzalez-Marte of Philadelphia, was positively identified by the victim as the individual involved in the robbery. A knife and stolen property were recovered from the vehicle.
Gonzalez-Marte was transported to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, where members of the New Milford Police Department interviewed him.
A warrant was issued in Connecticut for the following charges:
- Robbery in the first degree,
- Larceny in the second degree,
- Unlawful restraint.
Gonzalez-Marte was arraigned in Putnam County Court as a fugitive from justice and was ordered held without bail pending his extradition to Connecticut.
